BRITISH THIRD PATTERN BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET, .75 CALIBER
Description :
Here is an original, British Third Pattern Brown Bess Flintlock Musket made at the Tower. It is King's musket with the Crown of King George on the lock plate. This is a late Bess with a Storekeeper's mark dated 1835 on the stock. This musket is in very good condition with a brownish-steel patina. The metal exhibits overall fine pitting with heavier pitting in several areas on the barrel. The stock furniture has a nice yellow brass patina. The bore is quite dark with heavy areas of pitting. The lock works very well mechanically. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There is a newer scratch on the left side of the trigger guard. There are also some old beetle tracks on the left side of the stock at the breech and a small chip at the barrel tang. The rear sling swivel is missing. This is a great old Brown Bess.
