Description :
|
Here is an original, English Flintlock Pistol manufactured by John Knubley of London. John Knubley was a gun-maker and sword cutler to His Royal Highness the Prince Of Wales, the Duke Of Clarence and to Prince Edward. He worked at Charing Cross, London in 1786-1793. Knubley died in 1795. This pistol dates to around 1790. It has a 9" octagon to round barrel of .62 caliber. There is a "wedding ring" at the transition from octagon to round. The pistol is in very good to fine condition. The barrel and lock have a mostly smooth dark brown patina. The brass stock furniture has a nice dark bronze patina. There are some small dents in the ramrod pipe and entry thimble. The lock works but has no half cock position. The smooth bore is in good condition. It is dark but mostly smooth. The stock is in good condition with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. There is no butt cap on this pistol and the pommel has some scarring. This is a handsome, well-proportioned Flintlock pistol by a gunmaker to Royalty. Stock no. 29313
