Item :	FINE COLT MODEL 1862 POLICE PERCUSSION REVOLVER, .36 CAL.

Description :

Here is an original, Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver manufactured in 1865. It is a 5-shot percussion revolver with a 4 1/2" barrel. While this revolver has the New York barrel address, it was made for sale in England through Colt's London Facility. It has a steel trigger guard and back strap. There are British commercial proof and view marks on the gun. There is also an "L" beneath the serial numbers. This revolver is in fine condition with all matching numbers, including the wedge. While darkened, the case colors remain visible on the sides of the frame. The barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard retain about 50% of their factory blued finish. Most of the remaining blue on the cylinder is in the flutes and protected areas. There are a few fine pits on the bottom of the trigger guard. The action works well. The bore is very good. There is a bit of rust, but the rifling remains strong. The one-piece walnut grips are very fine with just a tiny ding or two from use. The Model 1862 Police is considered to be one of the best-looking percussion Colts. This is a nice example. Stock no. 28952
