FINE, WWI, U.S. MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, .30-06
Description :
Here is an original, WWI, U.S. Model 1903 Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1918 and chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. It was rebarreled at Springfield Armory in the early 1930's, but it appears no other changes were made at that time. The rifle retains its original 1918 parts and its blued and black Parkerized finishes. The rifle is in fine condition with about 80% of its finish remaining. There is some overall light finish wear with the butt plate beginning to turn brown. The trigger guard and magazine floor plate appear to have the black parkerized finish introduced in 1918. About 98% remains. The bolt handle shows heavier finish loss. The rifle has excellent mechanics and a brilliant, perfect bore. The correct 1918 stock is in very good condition with a scattering of light dings and scratches. The correct "AAJ" cartouche is faint but visible on the left side of the wrist. The rack number "Y79" is stamped on both sides of the butt. This is a nice, WWI '03 Springfield that has seen very little modification. Stock no. 28916
