WWII GERMAN 1ST MODEL LUFTWAFFE DAGGER (MODEL 1935) BY MALSCH

This is an early WWII, German 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger manufactured by David Malsch of Steinbach, Thuringen, Germany. The 1st Model Dagger featured a blue leather covered steel scabbard with silver plated fittings. The grip was covered in wire wrapped dark blue leather. The dagger has a silver-plated nickel pommel and cross-guard. Both the guard and pommel have gilded brass sun wheel swastikas on both sides. The blade has the manufacturer’s logo etched on the reverse with an odd Waffenamt with number "5". The dagger hangs from a silver-plated nickel chain with a snap clip. The dagger is in untouched, uncleaned condition. The silver and brass have some tarnish. The blade is bright and excellent. The handle is very fine with all the wire wrap intact. There is some light scuffing of the dark blue leather. The leather on the scabbard exhibits heavier scuffing and wear of the pebbled dark blue leather. About 90% of the blue finish remains. This is a nice untouched, original flyer's dagger that hasn't been monkeyed with. Stock no. 28833
