VERY FINE WWII REMINGTON U.S. MODEL 1903 RIFLE, .30-06
Description :
This is an original, WWII Remington U.S. Model 1903 Rifle made in late 1942 or early 1943. Remington began producing the Model 1903 early in the war on the original Rock Island Arsenal equipment. The '03 served throughout WWII, often employed for launching rifle grenades. This rifle is in very fine condition with nearly all of its black phosphate finish remaining. It has undergone at least one arsenal rebuild at Augusta Arsenal and was refinished at that time. The rifle has excellent mechanics. The Remington made barrel is dated "10-43". It has an excellent bore. The stock is in very fine condition with an oil finish. It is a scant style stock. In addition to the "AAG" marking of Augusta Arsenal, it has the initials "G" and "SMA". I have not been able to determine what these are. The lower barrel band is a stamped example from an '03A3. This is a good-looking rifle in great condition. Stock no. 28794
