VERY FINE GERMAN MODEL 1871/84 MAUSER RIFLE BY SPANDAU

This is an original German Model 1871/84 Mauser Rifle built by Spandau in 1887. It is chambered for the 11x60mm rimmed cartridge. The Model 1871/84 is a repeating rifle that feeds from an 8-round tubular magazine. It differed from the earlier Model 1871 by having a simpler rear sight and a sliding magazine cut-off. This rifle is in very fine to excellent condition with all matching numbers. It retains more than 98% of its factory blued finish with just a tiny bit of wear on the high points of the barrel bands. The bolt remains armory bright, but yellowed from old, hardened storage grease. The butt plate is bright as well, with a few small brown speckles. The magazine nose cap and stacking pin have a straw color. The rifle has excellent mechanics and a perfect bore. The stock is very fine with just a tiny dent or two from storage. There is a blemish on the right side of the butt below the inspector's stamps. I believe this was present at manufacture and just a bit too deep to be sanded out. This is an outstanding example of the Model 1871/84 Mauser in great condition. Stock no. 27169
