Description :

This is an original, Colt Single Action Army manufactured in 1901. A factory letter indicates that this revolver was shipped to the Blish, Mize, and Silliman Hardware Company of Atchison, Kansas in August of 1901. Originally chambered for the .38-40 (.38 WCF) cartridge, it was later returned to Colt to be factory converted to .32-20 (.32 WCF). At this time the frame and hammer were factory re-cased colored. The cylinder and barrel were replaced for the conversion and retain their original factory finish. This revolver is in very fine condition with about 90% of its finish remaining. There is light holster wear on the barrel and cylinder. There is some speckling of a small area on the cylinder. The cased colors remain visible overall but are beginning a light fade towards gray on the frame. The mechanics, bore, and chambers are all excellent. The black hard rubber grips exhibit some light wear from handling but are in fine condition with no chips or cracks. Included is an original tongue in loop leather holster with floral and scroll tooling on the front. It is in very good condition with tight stitching. The light brown leather remains supple with some light wear of the top surfaces in places. Also included is the Colt factory letter and a letter from an authenticator detailing the factory conversion. This is a very nice old Colt with a great early holster. Stock no. 28792
