SCARCE JAPANESE PAPA NAMBU (AUTOMATIC PISTOL TYPE A), 8MM
Description :
Here is an original, Japanese Modified Type A Nambu Pistol manufactured at the Koishikawa factory (also known as Tokyo Arsenal). Only about 4,600 were produced at Tokyo Arsenal between 1906 and 1923 when the factory was damaged by an earthquake. The Papa was never adopted by the Japanese Army, but some were purchased by the Imperial Japanese Navy. Many were privately purchased by Officers as their personal sidearm. These pistols were chambered for the 8mm Nambu cartridge. They were replaced by the Type 14 Nambu in 1926. This pistol is in very good condition. it has only about 10% of its original factory blued finish remaining in protected areas. Most of the gun has a steel gray patina with a sprinkling of dark brown. There is very fine pitting in some areas. The pistol has excellent mechanics and a fine bore. The checkered wooden grips are in fine condition with a few small dings from use. There are no chips or cracks. The magazine has some light surface rusting. The "Papa" Nambu is a very scarce pistol and increasingly hard to find in any condition. Stock no. 28224
