Item :	SCARCE, BRITISH SMLE NO.2, MK.IV TRAINING RIFLE, .22 CALIBER

Description :

This is a British, No.2, Mk.IV Short Magazine Lee Enfield Trainig Rifle. These rifles were rebarreled and modified to help cut training costs. This allowed training with a full sized rifle using the far less expensive .22 cartridge. The magazines had the followers removed so that spent .22 casings could be stored in the magazine. This gun was given a factory through (FTR) repair in 1954. At this time it was completely disassembled, inspected, and any parts that were worn were replaced. Many were rebarreled and refinished. I believe it was converted to a trainer in 1955. The stock socket is stamped with the Broad Arrow and "1955". The stock has numerous stamps of the company doing the conversion. The stock is numbered to the gun. This rifle is in excellent condition. It has matching numbers. The gun retains about 95% of its phosphate/black painted finish. There is a little scuffing of the black finish on the magazine and bolt handle. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is excellent as well with crisp markings. Included is a WWII US M-1 Web Sling in excellent condition. It appears to be original and is about the best one I have ever seen. It is unmarked, though. This is an excellent No.2 Trainer in great condition. Stock no. 28147
