Description :
|
This is an original Remington-Hepburn No.3 Rifle. It is believed that Remington produced 8,000 to 10,000 of these rifles from 1883-1907. This rifle is chambered for the .40 caliber, 2 1/2" case cartridge. It has a heavy, 30" octagon to round barrel. The rifle has a barrel mounted rear sight with a mid-range ladder and peep aperture. The front sight is a folding globe with a post. When folded it becomes a blade front sight. The rifle also has a long range tang sight with a peep aperture. This rifle is in very fine condition. The barrel retains about 95% of its factory blued finish. There are a couple of small areas with some speckling from light surface rust. The receiver retains nearly 100% of its factory case colors. The trigger guard has a few fine speckles of brown. The butt plate has some brown spotting with case color visible at the heel. The nose cap has turned gray. This rifle has excellent mechanics and a perfect bore. The stock is very fine with just a couple of tiny dings from use. This is a beautiful Remington-Hepburn in great condition. Stock no. 27963
