SCARCE DAVIS-WARNER "THE INFALLIBLE" PISTOL, .32 ACP
Description :
This is an original Davis-Warner Semi-automatic Pistol chambered for the .32 ACP cartridge. Known as "The Infallible", Davis-Warner began producing these in 1917, when the First World War prevented them from importing the German Schwarzlose Model 1908 pistols that they had been selling. Production ended in 1919, with only about 7,000 made. The Infallible was a striker fired blowback design with a 3" barrel feeding from a 7-round magazine. It is not a particularly attractive design and suffers from one serious drawback. There is a small lever at the back of the gun that secures a pin holding the breech block in place. If the gun is not reassembled properly with the lever in the correct position, the breech could be ejected from the gun striking the shooter in the face. So much for infallible! This gun is in fair condition, because it is missing the safety lever on the left side of the gun. It retains about 30% of its factory blued finish with the remainder a smooth brown. The gun has good bore and with the exception of the safety, works well. The black hard rubber grips with the Warner Arms Co. logo are in very fine condition with no chips or cracks and just a tiny ding or two from use. Included is an original brochure from Davis-Warner showing their shotguns and the Infallible Pistol. It is in very fine condition. The original box is also included but it is in poor, relic condition. It is basically just the top and bottom panels, but the inside of the top panel has the original operating instructions for this gun. This is a scarce and interesting pistol. Stock no. 27571
