Item :	VERY FINE COMMERCIAL THIRD MODEL BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET

Here is an original Third Model Brown Bess Flintlock Musket of about .78 caliber. This is a commercial "Tower" marked musket probably intended for the American Market. The Third Model Bess saw service from the last days of the American Revolution to the end of the Napoleonic Wars and beyond. The Brown Bess was one of the best muskets of its time. This musket is in very fine condition. It has a mostly smooth brown patina with some fine pitting along the top of the barrel. The barrel has traces of the factory brown finish remaining. The lock appears to have been case hardened and the case colors are fading to a smooth brownish-gray. The brass furniture has a golden bronze patina. The gun works very well mechanically. The bore is good. It is dark but mostly smooth with a few small rough spots. The stock is in very fine condition as well with just a small ding or two from use. This is a beautiful Third Model Bess in very nice condition. Stock no. 26901
