ORIGINAL THIRD MODEL BROWN BESS FLINTLOCK MUSKET

.75 Caliber smoothbore British Flintlock Musket still in the original flintlock configuration. 39 Inch round barrel with square bayonet lug 2 inches from the muzzle. British proofs and inspectors initials at the breech. "TOWER" engraved lock with Crown/GR in the center. Broad arrow and crown between the legs of the frizzen spring. Single gooseneck cock. Handsome brass furniture on butt plate, trigger guard and ram rod thimbles. Missing the sling swivels but these are easily replaced. Smooth bore and strong mechanics. Solid original stock has narrow slivvers missing from the stock inlet about 12-14 inches down from the muzzle. This could be restored or left as is as part of the history of the firearm. There is a British Military "store keepers" dated cartouche of "1800" at the left butt. These Third Model Brown Bess Muskets were the standard British Small Arm for the entire Napoleonic/War of 1812 Era and served on in other armies well into the middle of the 19th century.
