VERY RARE FIRST MODEL ALLIN US MODEL 1865 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE

.58 Caliber Rimfire, Single Shot Breech Loading US Military Long Arm. One of only 5,000 done at the arsenal before the switch to .50-70 Caliber in 1866. The conversion was done on a US Model 1861 Rifle Musket with an 1862 Dated lock. Metal furniture on the rifle and conversion system is in the "white". You can tell the breech block was blackened case color but it is a mixture of black and silver now. Fine mechanics. The outside extractor still snaps alongside the frame when the breech block opens. The bore needs a good brushing but I think it would come out fine. Fine oil finished stock with clear "ESA" cartouche at the left flat. Rifle is complete with sling swivels and M1855 Cleaning rod. This is the first ones of these I have ever handled. Rare!
