|
Description :
|
.75 Caliber smoothbore muzzle loading British Military Long Arm. The standard arm of the British Army from the 1790's until the 1830's. Fine, slightly cleaned condition, nearly bright 39 inch barrel crisply proofed at left breech and inspected just above the touch hole. Excellent lock with sharp "TOWER" and "Crown/GR" markings. Broad Arrow military proof between the legs of the frizzen spring. Hammer is the pre-1810 gooseneck type. Very handsome deep golden color brass furniture at butt, trigger guar and ram rod pipes and stock cap. Sling swivels appear to be original. I believe the ram rod is a museum quality reproduction. Excellent smooth bore and mechanics. The stock is beautiful but it has been very lightly cleaned and tung oiled or varnished some time in the past. Circa 1800 this is a visually striking example of the BritishMusket of the Napoleonic Wars.
