Item :	EXCELLENT FRENCH MODEL 1833 PERCUSSION OFFICERS PISTOL

.69 Caliber, Rifled, Single Shot French Officers Percussion Pistol 1833-1870. These beautifully made pistols were more in keeping with the painstakingly made "Gentlemens" pistols of the day. These stayed in service with the Aristocratic Officer Class of the French Military long after the advent of the revolver and metallic cartridge arms. 14 3/4 Inches overall with 9 inch octagon barrel. Barrel has a tight twisted damascus pattern along it's full length with traces of original brown finish mixed with a fine dove patina. Left flat marked with two French military proofs. Right upper flat dated "1847" and inspected "MR" for Manufacture Royal" at the Imperial Arsenal at Chatellerault. Small brass bead front sight and small raised post rear sight. Handsome back action percussion lock marked "Mre de Chatelleraut". Lock and hammer retain areas of case hardened colors and are extremely well made. Iron stock cap, trigger guard and pommel with lanyard ring are all in excellent condition. Original brass headed iron ramrod still threaded for utensils at the end. Fine oil finished stock with finely done checkering along full grip. Stock inspected "L" at the thumb piece. Stock is again more in keeping with a fine dueller of the day. Superb mechanics, Excellent bore. Very high quality pistol for an officer.
