.57 Caliber smoothbore US Percussion Cadet Musket. Barrel shortened to a handy 28 1/4 inches. Band springs and stock cap arsenal re-fitted to correct spacing. Fine condition overall with bright smooth metal and handsome dark oil finished walnut stock. Smooth bore, excellent mechanics. Lock and barrel both dated "1853". Odd brass tipped ram rod. It's easy to understand why an oddball caliber musket would have made a handy Cavalry or Artillery Musketoon.
