.69 Caliber percussion conversion of US M1816/22 Flintlock Musket by Henry Leman of Lancaster, PA. Smoothbore, never rifled with a brilliant bore. These were converted with a new percussion patent breech and percussion hammer which made for a stronger ignition system.Original Springfield lock dated 1837 with sharp "Eagle/US" in the center of the plate. Lock, barrel and furniture are still all in the correct "Armory Bright". Original sling swivels and button tipped ram rod. Fine oil finished stock with sharp oval cartouche on the belly of the stock righ behind the trigger guard. Stock is professionally (gang stamped) with the soldiers name, "J.M. Ely Jr." on either side of the butt and on the belly towards the toe. and on the forend just behind the double stock cap band. Mr. Ely did not want to lose his musket! Extremely strong mechanics. Just a great musket! 25227
