.58 Caliber percussion US Rifle Musket by Colt Firearms. Dated "1862" on lock and barrel flat. Colt was the lead design on the M1861 Special Model Rifle Muskets. These Enfield Like pieces were built on Robbins and Lawrence Enfield Machinery and incorporated many of the better features of these arms. Wedge shaped, stronger hammers, straight ramrods with stock spoon. Screw bands with no band springs. These led directly to the improvements incorporated in the M1863 Springfield Rifle Muskets. This is a fine example with fine markings. Barrel, lock and furniture in the white with little buffing. Blued rear sight. Complete with sling swivels, original ram rod, etc. Fine oil finished stock with two clear cartouches at the left flat. No NJ markings. Fine mechanics, Fine bore. 25223
