This is an original, WWII, U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol manufactured by Union Switch & Signal Company of Swissvale, Pennsylvania in 1943. It is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. Union Switch & Signal only produced 55,000 pistols during the war, all in 1943. These pistols are fairly scarce with only Singer producing a smaller number. This pistol is in fine condition. I believe it to be an armory rebuild as it appears to have a parkerized slide rather than the Du-Lite finish usually found on US&S pistols. The frame appears to have the Du-Lite finish. The lettering on both is crisp and there is a clear heat treatment line on the slide. Look at the pictures and see what you think. I do know that the grips are of Colt manufacture with strengthening ribs and mold numbers. The pistol retains more than 95% of its finish with just a bit of wear on the high edges. There is a pea sized spot of pitting and a couple smaller specks on the left side of the frame ahead of the trigger guard. The bore and mechanics are excellent, as are the grips. The pistol has the correct High Standard barrel, but should have Keyes Fibre grips. I believe everything else is correct. Included is an original, WWII magazine. Even if this is a rebuild, the US&S Model 1911A1 is a scarce gun. Stock no. 25080
