| Description : | | Here is an original, Napoleonic Era French "AN XIII" (Year 13) Flintlock Pistol. This pistol was manufactured at St. Etienne and is dated 1814 on the stock. The AN XIII pistol was the most used cavalry pistol of the Napoleonic Wars. These pistols served into the 1840's. Many were converted to percussion and served until the cartridge era. This pistol is in its original flintlock configuration. It is in very good to fine condition with a steely pewter patina over-speckled with brown. The lock plate has the same patina, with the hammer, frizzen, and frizzen spring mostly brown. The grip straps have heavier brown patina as well. The brass mountings have a nice golden brass patina. The lock and mechanics work well. The bore is heavily pitted. The stock is in fine condition with the usual small dings and scratches of use. The French Cuirassiers at Waterloo would ride by the British squares firing these pistols into the troops at close range. No Napoleonic collection is complete without one. Stock no. 25043 | HOME |
