SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1903A1 NATIONAL MATCH RIFLE
Description :
This is a U.S. Model 1903A1 Match Rifle originally manufactured at Springfield Armory in early 1921. The rifle is configured as a National Match Rifle with a full pistol grip Type "C" stock. The rifle exhibits many features of a National Match gun. It is fitted with the Lyman Type 2 #48 receiver sight. The "NS" marked bolt is polished and electro penciled with the rifle's serial number. The stock is hand numbered to the receiver on the belly between the rear swivel and the pistol grip cap. Differences include a M1922 checkered butt plate with no trap, the lack of a star gauged barrel, and the fact that the rifle is glass bedded and outside the serial number range. The rifle is in beautiful condition, rating very fine to excellent. It retains nearly all of its parkerized finish. There are some spots of brown staining on the rear sight base sleeve. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is excellent with just the tiniest ding or two from use or storage. The magazine cutoff has been modified by grinding off the front corner to clear the Lyman sight. This is a beautiful '03 Springfield that should shoot like a champ. Stock no. 25014
