WWII, REMINGTON RAND U.S. MODEL 1911A1 .45 AUTO PISTOL

This is an original, WWII, U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol manufactured by Remington Rand Inc. of Syracuse, NY in 1943. It is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. Remington Rand produced the largest number of M1911A1 pistols during the war. This pistol is in excellent condition with about 98% of its original factory parkerized finish remaining. There is just a faint hint of holster wear on the leading high edges of the slide and frame and on the corners of the rear sight. The serial number and military acceptance markings on these pistols was stamped after finishing leaving bright or unfinished metal inside the markings. The markings on this pistol exhibit traces of bright metal, insuring this is the pistol's original finish. The military acceptance markings are faintly stamped making the bright metal hard to see. Also, the area over the serial number is burnished from the stamping process. The bore and mechanics are excellent, as are the correct Keyes Fibre grips. The gun has the correct High Standard barrel. This is a superb example of a WWII Remington Rand Model 1911A1. Stock no. 24908
