Here is a beautiful Flintlock Long Rifle made by J.P. Gunstocks of Nevada in the 1990's. These folks offered several muzzle loading arms on a semi-custom basis. Options included wood grade, inlays, and engraving. This is their J.P. McCoy Squirrel Rifle. It is .36 caliber with a 42" octagonal 13/16" barrel. The rifling is cut with square bottom grooves. This is one of the highest grade J.P. McCoy rifles. The rifle is fitted with double set triggers. It has an engraved brass patchbox with 6 piercings, an engraved toe plate and trigger guard, and the lock has engraving as well. The stock is high grade curly maple and has a side plate and brass nose cap. The gun is in very fine condition with nearly all of the browned finish remaining on the barrel and lock. The brass has a nice golden patina. The lock works well and throws a good shower of sparks. The bore is excellent. The stock is in very fine condition with just a small ding or two from use. There is a pea sized scrape on the left side of the wrist. The wood is beautifully figured along the entire length of the stock. This is a great looking rifle that should serve you well.
