Item :	VERY FINE 1925 COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL .45 AUTO

Description :

This is an original commercial Colt Government Model .45 Automatic Pistol manufactured in 1925. This is the civilian version of the U.S. Model 1911A1 with a high luster blued finish. These pistols are marked with "C" prefix serial numbers to further differentiate them from the military guns. Aside from better fit and finish, the Government Model was identical to the military guns. In 1924, improvements were made to the original 1911 design. The spur of the safety was extended to protect the web of the hand, the trigger was shortened, the mainspring housing was arched, and the checkering of the grip was simplified. This pistol, manufactured in 1925, reflects those changes. The pistol is in very fine condition with more than 95% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is some light holster wear at the muzzle on the leading edges of the slide and frame. There are a few tiny pits in the small worn area. There are some scratches on the front grip strap and the initials "M I" are lightly scratched on the slide above the take down lever. There is a scratch across the serrations on the right side of the slide. The gun has excellent mechanics and a very fine bore. The checkered walnut grips are in very fine condition with just a couple of very tiny dings. The original 2-tone magazine is in very fine condition with one scratch in the bluing on the right side. This is a very nice example of an early M1911A1 style Government Model pistol. Stock no. 24723
