WINCHESTER MODEL 64 CUSTOM DELUXE BY BEITZINGER
Description :
This is a Winchester Model 64 Custom Deluxe Rifle manufactured in 1933 and chambered for the .30 W.C.F. (.30-30 Winchester cartridge. The owner of this rifle attributing its custom features to the famous New York Riflesmith George Beitzinger. Beitzinger worked for Griffin & Howe before establishing his own business on Long Island in the last half of the 20th Century. His rifles are of the highest quality. I can not say with any authority that this rifle is his work. The checkering is definitely the style he used with a double border on the points. The monogram plate on the belly of the stock is the type he used, but appears to be brass and not gold. Beitzinger worked primarily on Model 70 rifles and generally signed his work. This rifle has no Beitzinger markings, but does have a gold inlaid serial number. At any rate it is a beautiful rifle. It is in execellent condition with nearly 100% of its blued finish remaining. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is excellent as well with just one small scratch on the right side of the wrist just behind the receiver. It is a pressed in scratch and has not broken the surface of the wood. This is a very high quality rifle in superb condition. Stock no. 23701
