Here is an original, WWI German Gewehr 98 Infantry Rifle manufactured by Spandau in 1915. Chambered for the 8mm Mauser cartridge, the Gewehr 98 was the standard German battle rifle of the First World War. This rifle is in very good condition. There is very little original finish left with the entire rifle having a smooth, dark brown patina. The gun has mixed parts. The bolt and nose cap do not match. The rifle's mechanics work very well. The bore is dark and frosty, but the rifling is strong along its length. The stock is numbered to the gun. It is in good condition with the usual dings, scrapes, and scratches associated with use. German proofs are faint but visible. The included sling is a replica. This would be a perfect Gew. 98 for a reenactor or casual shooter. Stock no. 23467
