SUPERB, SPANDAU MODEL 1871/84 MAUSER RIFLE

This is an original, Model 1871/84 Mauser Rifle manufactured by Spandau in 1888. It is chambered for the 11x60mm Rimmed cartridge. The M1871/84 was a bolt action, repeating rifle with an 8 round tubular magazine. These rifles had a short service life due to the rapid advances in military rifle design in the late 1800's, but many saw service with reserve and training units well into the 20th Century. This rifle is in excellent, original condition. It retains more than 98% of its factory blued and armory bright finish. There is a tiny bit of finish wear on the bayonet lug. The rifle has excellent mechanics and an excellent, mirror bright bore. The stock is excellent as well with crisp inspector's stampings. There are two small chatter marks on the right side of the butt from the machining process. They are above and below the inspector's markings. This rifle is all matching and just about every part is numbered. This is, without a doubt, the finest example of a 71/84 Mauser that I have ever seen. Stock no. 24062
