QUALITY HARDWARE M-1 CARBINE, MARKED "L.P.W."
Description :
Here is a U.S. M-1 Carbine manufactured by Quality Hardware & Manufacturing Company in the Spring of 1944 and chambered for the .30 caliber carbine cartridge. The carbine was rebuilt after the war and I believe it served in occupied Europe in some capacity. The recoil plate is stamped with the letters "L.P.W.", but I have not been able to determine what they represent. The carbine is in very good condition. It retains about 90% of its parkerized finish, except on the butt plate, which has about 50% remaining. The finish is a dark, almost black phosphate finish. The gun has an excellent bore and mechanics. The stock is in fine condition with few blemishes. It is stamped "IR" over an Ordnance bomb in the sling well. The carbine has a mixture of parts, some early, some late. There is no bayonet mount. There are tiny importer marks on the bottom of the barrel. This is a solid carbine that would work well as a plinker or for a reenactor. Stock no. 23907
