This is a Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine manufactured in 1915 and chambered for the .30-03 Government cartridge. This is the cartridge for which the Model 1903 Springfield was originally chambered. The carbine is in good condition. Unfortunately, the receiver has had the finish touched up. It has a watery blue that has mostly turned brown. There are some filled holes where a saddle type sight had been installed. There are two more mounting holes on the left side of the receiver over the lettering. The barrel appears to have its original blue and retains about 90% of the finish. The rifle has excellent mechanics. The bore is good, but there is some light pitting towards the muzzle. The stock may have been lightly sanded in the past. Stock no. 23699
