INLAND DIVISION U.S. M-1 CARBINE
Description :
This is an original, U.S. M-1 Carbine manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors in late 1943 and chambered for the .30 caliber carbine cartridge. It was arsenal rebuilt following the war to include the most recent design changes including an adjustable rear sight and bayonet mount. The carbine is in fine condition with about 90% of its parkerized finish remaining. There is a little light finish loss on the high points. The majority of finish loss is on the butt plate which has almost no finish remaining. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The barrel is dated "11-43". The stock is in fine condition with just a few small dings and scratches from use. It is stamped "IO" in the sling cut and also retains the faint Ordnance Wheel cartouche on the right side of the stock and original "P" firing proof on the grip cap. The left side of the stock is stamped with the post-war rework and inspection mark "RAA" for Red River Arsenal. There is a new "P" firing proof in a box stamped on the front of the pistol grip. Included is a WWII magazine made by Inland and an original sling and oiler. This is a nice example of the carbine as it served following WWII. Stock no. 23713
