Item No.: 8927 Price : SOLD
Item : EXCELLENT, SPRINGFIELD U.S. M-1 GARAND RIFLE, 6 MIL. SER. #
Description :
This is an original, U.S. M-1 Garand Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory and chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. This rifle has a serial number in the 6 million range, making it one of the very last M-1 Rifles produced by Springfield in late 1956 or early 1957. The rifle is as-built and untouched with the correct parts for one of these late Garands. Many people consider these 6 mil numbered Garands to be the best ever built in terms of fit, finish, and quality. They are the pinnacle of M-1 production. Production numbers vary, but they are fairly scarce. Many were used to build National Match rifles and some estimate that fewer than 30,000 were built as service rifles. This rifle is in excellent condition. It retains nearly all of its parkerized finish, with just a hint of wear on the high points of the gun. The mechanics are excellent and the barrel has a perfect, brilliant bore. The barrel gauges "2" at the muzzle and "1" at the throat. The stock is excellent as well with just a few small dings from storage. The "DOD" cartouche and "P" firing proof are clear and crisp. Included is an original, military, OD green M-1 web sling, cleaning rod, oiler, and grease cup. There is also an un-issued M5A1 Bayonet for the rifle. It is made by "Imperial" and in a late M8A1 scabbard made by "P.W.H". This is a superb and desirable M-1, correct with all the accessories. Stock 23732
