FINE, BRITISH PATTERN 1796 LIGHT DRAGOON FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Description :
Here is an original, British Pattern 1796 Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol dating to the first decade of the 19th century. It is about .67 caliber. The lock has a double throated cock and is marked "TOWER" with the Crown of King George. This type pistol was a workhorse of the Napoleonic era. The pistol is in very good to fine condition. The iron barrel and lock of the pistol have a smooth brown finish. The brass furniture has a nice golden brass patina. The action works well, but the hammer is loose on the tumbler at full cock. The hammer screw may be a replacement. The bore is dark with pitting. The stock is very good with a few small dings and gouges from use. There is a large chip at the lower front of the lock mortise. It is an older chip, worn smooth from handling. The stock itself has an oil finish rubbed glossy by years of handling. This is a great looking flintlock pistol of the Napoleonic era. Stock no. 23609
