1917 MFG. DWM IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVAL P.08 LUGER
Description :
This is an original, WWI Imperial German Naval Luger manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in 1917. The Luger was first adopted by the Imperial German Navy in 1904. This version, often referred to as the 1914 Navy Model, was the final WWI era production type. It featured a 5.9" barrel, shoulder stock lug, and a two-position rear sight calibrated for 100 and 200 meters. It does not have the grip safety of earlier Naval Lugers. Imperial navy markings, a Crown over "M", are stamped on the left side of the barrel. The year of manufacture is stamped on the top of the barrel and on the left rail of the frame. This pistol is in excellent condition with more than 98% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is almost no wear of the finish at all. The pistol has an excellent bore and mechanics. The grips are excellent as well, with no damage. The gun is all matching except the magazine, which I believe is a replica. The magazine has no markings of any kind. The grips are deeply stamped with the serial number. It is so deeply stamped that if it is another number, it is not legible. It is the right size and shape for the "00" that it should be. This is a superb example of a very scarce pistol, the WWI Naval Luger. Stock no. 23571
