Item :	FINE, ERFURT DOUBLE DATE P.08 LUGER PISTOL, 9MM

Description :

This is a WWI German P.08 Luger manufactured by Erfurt in 1912 and chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge. It is a 1908 erfurt Military pistol with no stock lug. It has 1920 over 1912 chamber markings. This 1920 marking was applied after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty strictly limited the number and type of arms allowed to the German military. The 1920 marking indicates legal German military ownership of a particular weapon. The guns retained by the Germans were arsenal reworked, with prior unit markings ground off. This pistol is one of the military weapons Germany was allowed to keep. It is in fine condition, retaining about 95% of its arsenal reworked finish. There is a little holster wear at the muzzle and on the high points of the frame and side plate. There is a very slight depression on the front strap where the unit markings were ground off. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The walnut grips are very fine with just a couple of tiny dings from use. The gun retains its original sear safety. The gun is all matching, including both magazines. The grips are not numbered. The right grip has a stylized "S" stamped on the inside. The magazines are of two types. One has a wooden plug and the other an aluminum plug. I suspect these were numbered to the gun when the arsenal rework was done. The pistol is in a WWII holster made by C. Otto Gehrckens, Leder- u. Riemenwerke (Leather and Beltworks) of Pinneberg (dty code). It is dated 1942. The holster is in fine condition with tight stitching and flexible leather. There is some light scuffing of the black finsh and a few small dings and scratches from use. This is a very nice Erfurt Double Date Luger. Stock no. 23560
