Item :	CASED MAUSER C96 "RED NINE" BROOMHANDLE PISTOL

Description :

Here is an original, Mauser C96 "Red Nine" Broomhandle Semi-automatic Pistol with its numbered, matching shoulder stock. In 1916, the German Army contracted with Mauser to produce the C96 in a 9mm Parabellum chambering. This was done to offset the slow production of the P.08 Luger Pistol. When received in the field, unit armorers would brand a large number "9" on each grip panel to differentiate them from those pistols chambered in the standard 7.63mm chambering. This burned in "9" was then painted red. This pistol was sold in England as a cased set by CMR International Classic Arms Company (UK) of Ashford, Kent. It is in a beautiful hard wood case with green baize lining. In addition to the pistol and stock, there is a cleaning rod, brass oil bottle, extra magazine spring, and four stripper clips. The pistol itself is in very fine condition with about 90% of its factory blued finish remaining. There is a little finish wear along the barrel and on the high points of the magazine housing and frame. The pistol has excellent mechanics and a very fine bore. All numbers are matching, including the grips. The grips are in very fine condition with no chips or cracks. The shoulder stock is in very fine condition as well with just a few tiny dings and scratches from use. It is numbered on the top strap of the mounting clip. The case is in fine condition. The top is made from two pieces of wood and is just beginning to separate along the joint seam. This is a very desirable pistol, in nice condition and beautifully cased. Stock no. 23504
