VERY RARE COLT 1855 REVOLVING MILITARY RIFLE

This is a very rare, original, Colt Model 1855 Military Rifle. It is a 5-shot, .56 caliber revolving percussion rifle with a 31" barrel. The gun is in near relic, antique poor condition. It has an overall dark brown patina with heavy pitting of the frame and cylinder. The entire forend, the barrel bands, and the cleaning rod are missing. The rear sight is a reproduction. The hammer screw is missing and the hammer will not stay cocked. The cylinder will not turn. The barrel has been smooth bored and is now dark and pitted. The butt stock is dry and cracked about half of its length from the butt plate forward. It has a scattering of small dings and scratches. The bottom butt plate screw is loose in the wood. Now I know what you're thinking- "Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?". Still, this is a rare rifle, with examples in fine condition commanding prices of $25,000 or more.
