REMINGTON 1861 NAVY REVOLVER (OLD MODEL NAVY)
Description :
Here is an original, Civil War, Remington 1861 Navy Revolver manufactured ca. 1862. Also known as the "Old Model Navy", this was a 5-shot, .36 caliber percussion revolver. Only about 7,000 of these were manufactured, with nearly all going to fill U.S. Government orders. This revolver is in very good condition. There is no finish remaining. The entire gun has a dark brown, mostly smooth patina. There is some light pitting on the frame ahead of the cylinder. The brass trigger guard has a yellow bronze patina. The mechanics work well, but there is a drag line on the cylinder. The bore and chambers are dark with some pitting, but the rifling is visible along the barrel's length. The grips are worn with a couple of dings and a small gouge from use. The Remington Old Model Navy is a fairly scarce gun, accounting for only 20% of the total number of Remington Navies produced.
