Description :

This is an original, Winchester Model 1873 Rifle manufactured in 1884 and chambered for the .38-40 cartridge (.38 WCF). The '73 Winchester is an icon of the Old West, the ultimate cowboy gun. It has even earned the name, "The Gun That Won The West". There is even a movie, "Winchester 1873", that is based on one of these rifles. This Winchester is a full length rifle with a 26" round barrel, blued receiver, and crescent butt. The rifle is in beautiful, very fine condition. It retains a strong 90% of its original factory blued finished. There is some light wear on the high points of the gun. There are a couple of tiny dings on the receiver and a small area on the left side plate where something small struck the metal repeatedly, causing a blemish. It looks like light punch marks. It is about 5/8" long. There is a bit of finish wear at the muzzle and a couple of "BB" size spots of wear above the front magazine tube mount on the barrel. The hammer retains most of its case colors. The butt plate has some mottling of the finish. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The bore is shiny with strong rifling and the action locks up tightly. The stock is very fine with just a few small dings from use. It has a beautiful, warm, golden walnut color. The cleaning rod remains in the butt trap. This is a superb 1873 Winchester rifle. They are very hard to find in this condition. Stock no. 22456
