Item No.: 8483 Price : SOLD
Description :
R.P. Bruff of New York City was one of the arms manufacturers that sought to capitalize on the "Deringer" name. In the 1850's and 1860's, Bruff made very similar copies of the Deringer Pocket Pistols. They were well made and well received by the public. This is one of Bruff's pistols. It is a very close copy of the Deringer and in fine condition. It is a .41 caliber percussion pistol with a 3" barrel. The barrel has a brass band at the breech. The barrel is browned and retains about 95% of its finish. The back action lock and hammer are blued and retain about 90% of their finish. The pistol has German Silver mountings to include a thumb piece, escutcheons, nose piece, butt cap, and decorative side plate. The German Silver shows some light tarnishing. The pistol has scroll engraving on the trigger guard and tang. The mechanism works well, but only has a full cock position. The bore is dark with some rusting and pitting. The stock is fine with just a couple of small dings from use. No collection of Deringers is complete without the competitors! This is a great R.P. Bruff. Stock no. 22303
