AMERICAN BACK ACTION LOCK PERCUSSION LONG RIFLE
Description :
Here is an American Long Rifle dating to the 1850's. It is a percussion rifle with a 44" barrel. The rifle has a back action lock and double triggers. The rear trigger must be set to cock the gun. There is no half cock position. Both the lock and barrel are marked "W.H.H.". The rifle is in very fine condition. The barrel has a smooth brown patina. The lock and hammer are a mottled pewter and brown. The brass has a nice golden bronze patina, except for the nose cap which has been cleaned and polished. The lock and triggers work well. The bore is dark, but has visible rifling along its length. The stock is in very good condition. It is curly maple with very nice figure. There is a recent repair just ahead of the barrel bolster. There is another on the right side just behind the nose cap. The ramrod is a new replacement. The front sight is a recent replacement as well. This is a solid American rifle with clean lines and a good look. Stock no. 22188
