Item :	SCARCE, REMINGTON NEW MODEL NAVY REVOLVER

Description :

Here is an original, Civil War Remington New Model Navy .36 caliber percussion revolver. Only about 28,000 of these were produced between 1863 and 1878. The Navy was almost identical to the New Model Army, but slightly smaller overall. This one is just in fair condition. The cylinder pin is missing and it has been replaced by a length of rod. The cylinder will not advance and turns only with difficulty. The gun retains none of its blued finish, having a speckled pewter patina overall. There is some light surface pitting, particularly on the cylinder. The brass trigger guard has a nice yellow brass patina. The hammer works properly, with half and full cock. As stated the cylinder does not advance. There is some pitting in the bore, but the rifling remains strong along its length. The walnut grips are in fine condition. There is a very tiny chip on the edge of the left grip. There are no visible cartouches. Even though there are some condition issues with this revolver, the Remington New Model Navy is a scarce gun.
