SUPERB, ALL MATCHING, SPANDAU MODEL 1871/84 MAUSER RIFLE

Description :
|
This is an antique, German Model 1871/84 Mauser Rifle produced in 1887 by Spandau. It is chambered for the 11x60mm Rimmed cartridge. This was a bolt action repeater that fed from an 8 round tubular magazine. This rifle has markings on the heel of the butt plate for the Prussian Czar Alexander Guards Regiment. The royalty of Europe were generally related at this time in history and would often honor their cousins by naming regiments for them. Kaiser Wilhelm was the first cousin of Czar Nicholas, who was the son of Czar Alexander. This rifle is in excellent condition, with matching numbers and retaining more than 95% of its original blued finish. There is a small discolored area on the trigger guard. The bolt, receiver, and butt plate remain bright. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The stock is very fine, with one small scratched area on the right butt below the stamped proofs. This may have been a blemish in the wood that remained when the stock was made. There are a couple of tiny dings and scratches from storage. This rifle is in amazing condition.
