Description :

|
.36 Caliber Percussion Center hammer 6-shoot revolver. Very handsome age patina. Fine smooth mixture of bright plum brown and gray. Clear "Springfield Arms Co" Marking on the top strap. Double triggers within the trigger guard. "Warners Patent" on left side of frame. The forward trigger rotates the cylinder and the rear trigger acts as a kind of set or "hair" trigger. Excellent grips. These 1850's gun makers would do anything not to be sued by Sam Colt! Lightly inscribed on the back strap and pommel in a 100% period hand, "Sergt. James Packer Co E/13th Regt N.Y.S.M.". Because of wear this is much more visible on the pommel but it is legible on the backstrap as well. Packer served for three months in 1861 and may have re-upped for longer but I have no record of this. With only 125 of these revolvers made in the 1850's this is an extremely hard to find American Percussion Revolver. With the addition Civil War Identification that makes this an extremely desirable piece.
