Extremely Well Made 70 Inch Pike by John Blair of Collinsville, CT. This is one of the first 12 sent to Old John Brown when he was planning the overthrow of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the late 1850's. Beautiful 10 1/4 inch spear pointed blade with iron cross guard and 4 inch iron ferrule. The pike head itself and the beautiful dark ash haft are very finely crafted. Upon seeing these, Brown ordered a thousand. These were all delivered to the Kennedy Farm and were meant to arm the slaves as they poured into Harpers Ferry to begin their war for freedom. Excellent condition. Historic.
