CONFEDERATE PALMETTO ARMORY MODEL 1842 MUSKET, SOUTH CAROLINA CONTRACT, .69 CALIBER

This is a Palmetto Armory Model 1842 Percussion Musket made by William Glaze & Co. in Columbia, South Carolina in 1852. These were produced under contract for the state of South Carolina with 6,000 made. They are considered a secondary Confederate arm with all being used by the South. This musket is in very good condition with an overall smooth dark brown patina. The is some roughness around the nipple and bolster with rust around the nipple. There is a small piece broken away from the front sling swivel. The mechanics are excellent. The bore is dark and pitted. The stock is very good with a scattering of small dings and scratches from use. This musket has a lug on the underside of the barrel for use with surplus Model 1816 bayonets. This is a nice, un-altered Confederate musket. Stock no. 32877
