This is a replica of the famed, Colt Walker revolver manufactured by Aldo Uberti of Italy and sold by Stoeger Industries. The original Walker was the result of a collaboration between Texas Ranger Captain Samuel Walker and Sam Colt. walker wanted a large revolver capable of firing a rifle sized charge. The Walker holds a charge of 60 grains behind a .44 caliber bullet. This is more than twice the charge of a typical black powder revolver. The Walker remained the most powerful handgun ever made until the invention of the .44 magnum in the 1950's. Unfortunately, the metallurgy of 1847 was not quite up to the task and a number of the guns had their cylinders burst when fired. Still, the significant increase in firepower of the Texas Rangers was well worth the risk. This is not a problem in modern replicas. They are completely safe to fire. This revolver is in excellent condition, like new in the original box. It retains nearly 100% of its factory blued and cased color finishes. The bore, chambers, and mechanics are excellent. The grips are excellent, as well. The box has some scuffing and one broken corner. This is a fine replica of the Colt Walker in beautiful condition. Stock no. 32818
