Item :	FINE, REMINGTON 1871 ARMY ROLLING BLOCK PISTOL, .50 CALIBER

Description :

This is an original, Remington 1871 Army Rolling Block Pistol chambered for the .50 caliber centerfire cartridge. Remington made about 6,000 of these between 1872 and 1888. Most, about 5,000, were purchased by the U.S. Government. This pistol is in fine condition with about 90% of the blued finish remaining on the barrel. There is a little finish wear on the sides of the barrel. The frame and trigger guard retain about 80% of their factory cased color. That color has faded on the grip straps leaving a steel gray. There is some brown speckling on the rear grip strap and bottom of the trigger guard. The mechanics are excellent. The bore is also in excellent condition, bright and shiny with strong rifling. The walnut grip and forearm are in fine condition with just a tiny ding or two. The inspector's cartouche on the left side of the grip is crisp. This is a very nice, untouched example of the Remington 1871 Rolling Block Pistol. Stock no. 32688
