This is a Colt New Service Revolver manufactured in 1916. Originally chambered for the .455 Eley cartridge, the gun was shipped to England, probably for service in WWI. There are British acceptance markings on the gun. At some point, it made its way back to the States where the cylinder was shaved to allow the use of .45 ACP cartridges with half-moon clips. This revolver is in fair to good condition. It has been re-blued, probably at the time it was converted to .45 ACP. There is fine pitting in some areas. It is heaviest on the right side of the frame, rear grip strap, and the left side of the barrel near the muzzle. The pitting has been blued over. More than 90% of the current blue remains. The revolver works well mechanically. The bore and chambers are in fine condition. It could use a cleaning. The walnut grips are quite worn with a number of small dings and scratches from use. The wood has chipped away from the frame pins at the butt on both grips. This revolver has had an interesting history. Stock no. 32601
